Alex McCauley

Alex McCauley is one of Australia's foremost voices on the technology and innovation ecosystem, and the venture capital and public policy that sustains it. As the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Tech Council of Australia, Alex was instrumental in unifying the sector's most powerful voices. He successfully forged a coalition between global heavyweights—including Google, Microsoft, and Stripe—and Australia's defining unicorns, such as Atlassian, Canva, and Afterpay. Prior to this, he served as CEO of StartupAUS, solidifying his role as the country's leading advocate for the startup ecosystem.

Since then, Alex has served as Director for Technology and Investment at NEOM in Saudi Arabia, overseeing innovation strategy. Currently, he serves as General Manager (Australia) for Whatnot, spearheading the expansion of one of the world's fastest-growing e-commerce platforms.

Alex has bachelor degrees in economics and social sciences and law (first class honours) from the University of Sydney and a masters in business from Stanford University. He also served as a diplomat in Australia's embassy in Tel Aviv.
